Hiking route: 899018
Provided by: Groots Genieten
This route takes you through some green neighborhoods in Almere Haven. You will also pass through the Vroege Vogelbos and the Waterlandse Bos. In between you can take a look at Almere Castle.
Early Bird Forest
You set off from the Vroege Vogelbos. Here you see the sheepfold that houses a flock of 200 Romney sheep. These animals graze the surrounding nature, among other things to prevent the spread of hogweed. The first tree in Vroege Vogelbos was planted in 1972. It owes its name to the VARA TV program that was recorded here for years. Then you walk through the beautiful park zone on the edge of Almere Haven.
Witchworld
Further on you will see a real castle. Yes, in Flevoland! Between 2000 and 2002, a castle was built here, inspired by the thirteenth-century Jemeppe castle in Hargimont, Belgium. However, construction was halted due to financial problems. Witchworld has purchased the castle to open a theme park in the near future. Then you walk through the beautiful Waterlandse Bos. What a silence, so close to Almere Haven!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
