Cycling route through the Belgian and Dutch Kempen

The Kempen is a cross-border region, roughly speaking, it lies between Antwerp and Eindhoven. This route takes you through the woods between Retie and Bergeijk.

Plateaux-Hageven
You can relax your legs here along the green banks, while looking out over the rippling water. You then cycle many beautiful kilometers along the leafy Canal Bocholt Herentals. The Plateaux-Hageven is a cross-border nature reserve. Here you see hay meadows and flux meadows that are planted with poplars. Coniferous trees and heather grow on the higher parts.

Eicha Museum
In Bergeijk you can visit the Eicha Museum: an archaeological museum for the Brabantse Kempen. In Boswachterij De Kempen you quickly get the feeling that civilization is miles away. What a silence. You drive a bit along the edge of the Cartierheide. In the woods of the Peelse Heide you will pass the Groote Circle. It is said to correspond in size to the Place de l\\\'Étoile in Paris.
