Three beautiful harbor towns plus a boat trip

Your route starts at Restaurant Pieterman. You can board the ferry nearby to Marken. Het Paard van Marken is one of the most beautiful places on the island. This striking lighthouse dates from 1839. In 1971 the tower was pushed a few centimeters from its place by drifting ice! In the village of Marken you will see beautiful monumental wooden houses. Around the Gouwzee you cycle through three beautiful old port towns: Volendam, Monnickendam and Marken. In this polder area you will see old farms, grassy meadows and straight ditches. In Monnickendam you will find many centuries-old buildings with a bell, stepped or pointed gable. You will also pass the Play Tower. A museum has been located in the tower since 1981. From the dike you have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
