Tour of Hortelbos - Herkenrodebossen

One of the youngest CO2 forests is located on the territory of Hasselt. In 2017, 11,000 trees were planted. Several thousand more will be planted in 2018. These trees are planted near the very old Herkenrodebos. Many rare animals and plants are found in these forests, such as the almost extinct dormouse, the rare tree frog and the special Bechtstein bat. you will cycle along the Wijers and the Hortelbos. To see the young trees, you must drive into Wijersstraat between junctions 179 and 193 and then turn right into Keizerlindestraat.
