Tour of Albergen and manor Weleveld

Your route starts at Het Anker Bar & Food. East of Almelo you drive through the beautiful countryside of Twente. You will find plenty of natural beauty and tranquility here, ideal for a day of downshifting. From 1300 onwards, the manor Weleveld stood at the intersection of the trade route Deventer-Osnabrück and the Bornsebeek. In 1804 the building was sold for demolition, because the owner could not meet his payments. After excavations at the end of the twentieth century, the old canal system was restored. Further on you drive along the leafy banks of the Canal Almelo-Nordhorn. You cycle back across the small-scale Twente countryside with its forests, hedgerows and sloping ash soils. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you cycle past Saxon farms at your leisure!
