Cycling route around Steenbergen

Around Steenbergen you drive through a vast landscape. You will experience the characteristic Brabant tranquility here. You will also pass some sights, such as a centuries-old Flemish barn.

De Roovere
After a terrace at't Wagenhuis, you can ride along the Scheldt-Rhine Canal, which opened in 1975. Get some fresh air while looking out over the rippling water. In the woods near Halsteren you will pass Fort De Roovere. This fortification was built in 1628 on a high sand ridge. The fort was restored a few years ago and provided with a beautiful walkway. The earthen walls and canals give you a glimpse of the past.

Steenbergen
In the rural area around Steenbergen, the landscape consists of vast polders, streams and rivers. In Wouw you can admire the centuries-old St. Lambertus Church, built in Kempen Gothic. Just outside Vroenhout you pass Museum Vlaamse Schuur. Here you can view small agricultural implements in a barn from 1635. You pass through characteristic villages such as Stampersgat and Dinteloord. You will also pass through Steenbergen, a former fortified town with a cozy old center.
