Description
With this route you will discover Helmond and several beautiful nature reserves. From Nuenen you will cycle through the countryside to the Eindhoven Canal. This leafy waterway was completed in 1846 and connects the centre of Eindhoven with the Zuid-Willemsvaart. Just before junction 34 you will cycle through the Groot Goor: a nature reserve with reed beds, meadows, an apple orchard and an old forest area. Further on there are two more nature reserves on your route: the Brouwhuissche Heide and the Bakelse Bos. You will mainly cycle between conifers here. At the Markt in Helmond you will see several beautiful monuments, such as the white Huis met de Luts from 1594. Helmond Castle is a striking moated castle that originally dates from the fourteenth century.
