Walking through the Abbertbos

It is also wonderful to walk through the woods on Flevoland. This route takes you through Boswachterij Reve-Abbert.

Drontermeer
First you walk on a leafy path that leads you along the Drontermeer. This lake was created in 1956 after the reclamation of Flevoland. It is nice to walk along the banks, while looking out over the water. In the lake you can see the islands of Abbert and De Eekt.

Slow down
The Abbertbos is part of the Boswachterij Reve-Abbert. In prehistoric times there was already an extensive coniferous forest here, then the Zuiderzee came up. Now you walk through a forest where many special plants grow. Because of this variation, many birds and butterflies live here. It is incredibly quiet here, ideal for a relaxing day. You also walk a bit through the polder, in this wide landscape you can let your thoughts run free.
