Walking on the Caitwickerzand

The Caitwickerzand is a special nature reserve on the Veluwe, ideal for exploring on foot. Around Nieuw-Milligen you walk through a mosaic of woods and fields.

From Farm Het Molentje you can walk to the Caitwickerzand in no time. In the nineteenth century, this nature reserve was still part of a large sand drift. By planting oaks and pines, among other things, the drifting sand came to lie in the lee, so that the sand became overgrown with mosses, heather, grasses and flying pines. You can also see juniper bushes here. An idyllic place to enjoy at your leisure.

It is a quiet walk in the forest around Nieuw-Milligen. You regularly have beautiful vistas of meadows and fields. You will also see some characteristic farms. An ideal environment to clear your head or to chat with friends and family. You also walk along the edge of the Air Operation Control Station, where all military flights above the Netherlands are registered.
