Description
During this cycling route you will become acquainted with the surroundings of Uithuizen. Enjoy a nice bike ride in the vast Groningen landscape with its old picturesque towns. You start at Hotel Ekamper, the perfect base for a cycling tour. This hotel is also the northernmost hotel on the mainland of the Netherlands. While you are completing the route, you will cycle through a typical Dutch environment: polders and meadows. Here and there you see some windmills, such as Molen Grote Geert in Kantens. This mill was originally built in 1818 as a low tower mill. As a result of wind obstruction, the mill was raised. You will also pass Asingaborg, of which only the gatehouse remains. When you return, you can rest for a while at Hotel Ekamper and enjoy the wonderful bike ride you have made.
