Description
Oldeboorn and Akkrum are two picturesque Frisian villages. Ideal for exploring on foot. In the countryside it is wonderfully quiet walking along the river De Boorne.
The Boorne
You start the route in Oldeboorn. A picturesque village where you will see many trees and some beautiful monumental buildings along the river De Boorne. You can see some boats bobbing on the quay. So a nice atmosphere! You walk through the countryside on a quiet path. Here you have a beautiful view of the rippling water, the reed beds and extensive grasslands. A beautiful environment to switch back to.
Akkrum
In Nes you can see the 41 meter high water tower, it was built in 1957. In Akkrum you can enjoy the cozy atmosphere. You can also see some beautiful buildings, such as the Doopsgezinde Kerk from 1835 and the Terptsjerke from 1759. On the Ljouwerterdijk you see the Coopersburg on the left, a large monumental building from 1901. Along the Boorne you walk back to Oldeboorn.
