Description
Oldeboorn and Akkrum are two picturesque Frisian villages. Ideal for exploring on foot. In the countryside you can enjoy a peaceful walk along the river De Boorne.
The Boorne
You start the route in Oldeboorn. A picturesque village where you will see many trees and some beautiful monumental buildings along the river De Boorne. You see some boats floating on the quay. A nice atmosphere! You walk through the countryside on a quiet path. Here you have a beautiful view of the rippling water, the reed collars and vast grasslands. A beautiful environment to switch back.
Akkrum
In Nes you can see the 41 meter high water tower, it was built in 1957. In Akkrum you can enjoy the cozy atmosphere. You will also see some beautiful buildings, such as the Mennonite Church from 1835 and the Terptsjerke from 1759. On the Ljouwerterdijk you will see the Coopersburg on your left, a large monumental building from 1901. You walk back to Oldeboorn along the Boorne.
