At the Sneekermeer you can get some fresh air and enjoy the views. In this region you will also find picturesque towns, such as Akkrum and Heerenveen.
Sneekermeer
Here you drive through a beautiful landscape of vast meadows, canals and ditches. Terhorne is the first village on your route, it is located on the corner of a reclaimed land from the twelfth century. According to the residents of this village, the children's book series De Kameleon is set here. Further on you have a beautiful view of the Sneekermeer from the road.
Akkrum
In Joure you will see the Groene Molen, a polder mill from 1800. Further on is Penninga\\\'s Molen, a corn mill from 1692. Just past junction 83 you will pass the Rottum boulder. According to tradition, it was originally four times as large before being reduced in size with dynamite in the nineteenth century. Further on you drive through the attractive center of Heerenveen. Finally, you cycle through the picturesque Akkrum.
