Description
The Maasduinen National Park contains the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands. You will find several beautiful sub-areas here, such as the Eendenmeer and the Bergerheide. Put on your hiking boots for a beautiful trip.
Maasduinen
The buildings soon make way for natural beauty. As you walk along the edge of the forest, you look out over the heath and the waters of the Duck Lake. This part of the Maasduinen is surrounded by dunes, making it wonderfully quiet for a walk. You see bush and heath, many birds bobbing on the water.
Bergerheide
The Bergerheide is also an oasis of peace. This sloping sub-area consists of a mosaic of forest, heathland and shifting sands. In the middle of the Bergerheide lies the Driessenven, an ancient marsh that served as agricultural land in the twentieth century. Since the turn of the century it has been allowed to develop into an unspoilt piece of nature again, beautiful! You walk back to Nieuw-Bergen between the fragrant coniferous trees. On the way you can take a short break for a cup of coffee at Jaykes.
