Duck Lake walking route

The Maasduinen National Park contains the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands. You will find several beautiful sub-areas here, such as the Duck Lake and the Bergerheide. Put on your walking shoes for a beautiful tour.

Maasduinen
The buildings soon make way for natural beauty. As you walk along the edge of the forest, you look out over the heathland and the waters of the Duck Lake. This part of the Maasduinen is surrounded by dunes, making it a wonderfully peaceful place to walk. You see shrubs and heather, many birds float on the water.

Bergerheide
The Bergerheide is also an oasis of peace. This rolling sub-area consists of a mosaic of forest, heathland and drifting sands. Driessenven is located in the middle of the Bergerheide, an ancient swamp that served as agricultural land in the twentieth century. Since the turn of the century it has been allowed to develop again into an unspoilt piece of nature, beautiful! You walk back to Nieuw-Bergen between the fragrant conifers. Take a short break for a cup of coffee at Jaykes along the way.
