Secret gardens of Sittard

In the old center of Sittard you will find many beautiful buildings, but also some historic city gardens. With this fun walking route you can enjoy both!

Ursuline garden
Hotel Merici is located in the beautiful old city center of Sittard. Enjoy a coffee and something tasty here before walking across the Oude Markt, one of the oldest streets in Sittard. You will see some beautiful monuments here, such as St. Michael's Church. Further on is the first garden on your route: the Jardin d\\\'Isabelle. You will also pass through the Ursuline Garden, a city garden with a historic pear avenue in the former courtyard of the monastery.

Troubadour
You walk along a remnant of the old city wall and past Fort Sanderbout, a former bastion. There are now allotments on the shooting ranges. At the city park you will find monumental mansions from the 1920s, further on you will find a park in honor of Limburg's greatest troubadour: Jo Erens. You walk through the monumental shopping street to the green grounds of the former Maasland Hospital. From a distance you can see the tower of the medieval St. Peter's Church in the center.
