Cycling through Waalwijk, Heusden and Vlijmen

This route takes you through Waalwijk and Heusden. The first few kilometres are on the leafy cycle path that runs along the drainage canal from 's-Hertogenbosch to Drongelen. This waterway was dug between 1907 and 1911 to relieve the Bossche Broek in the event of large amounts of water. In Waalwijk you cycle along the route of the Langstraat railway line, the former railway connection for the leather industry between Lage Zwaluwe and 's-Hertogenbosch. Just before junction 10 you pass the former town hall of Waalwijk, which dates from 1932. Along the Maas you cycle to Heusden, a former fortified town where you will find a wonderful historical atmosphere. Further on you pass the Haarsteegse Wiel, take a break to enjoy this idyllic spot. Via Vlijmen you cycle to Pancake restaurant D'n Berepot in Nieuwkuijk.
