Description
Voorne-Putten is a cycling gem under the proverbial smoke of Rotterdam. You cycle through a landscape full of natural beauty. You will also pass through the sights of Oostvoorne and cross the Haringvliet.
Haringvlietdam
At Paviljoen de Duinrand you can enjoy a cozy terrace. Then you drive through Voornes Duin. In this extensive nature reserve you will see dune forests, flower-rich grasslands and moist valleys. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for taking a break. Then you drive over the Haringvlietdam, the sixth structure of the Delta Works that opened in 1971.
Voorne Castle
Back at Voorne-Putten you drive through the polders with their grasslands, creeks and other watercourses. You cycle through Oostvoorne, a charming town where you will pass a flour mill from 1821. From Hoflaan in Oostvoorne you can walk to the restored ruins of the medieval Jacobaburcht, the country residence of Jacoba van Beieren. Finally, you cycle around the leafy banks of the Oostvoornse Meer. Time for a terrace at Paviljoen de Duinrand.
