Description
Cycling in Voorne-Putten offers the best of both worlds. You'll find plenty of natural beauty, such as in Voornes Duin, and you'll pass through charming towns like Brielle and Hellevoetsluis.
Voornes Dune
Then you cross the Haringvliet Dam to Voorne-Putten. You'll immediately pass through Voorne-Putten Dunes: one of the most species-rich dune areas in Western Europe. Besides beautiful dunes, you'll find flower-filled meadows, moist valleys, and dune forests. And a wonderful sense of tranquility! Stop at Paviljoen de Duinrand and enjoy a drink on a cozy terrace.
Dry dock
After cycling along the leafy banks of Lake Brielse Meer, you'll pass through Brielle. Stop for a moment to soak up the historic atmosphere before heading into the polders with their expansive grasslands. In the old harbor of Hellevoetsluis, you'll see, among other things, the eighteen-meter-high lighthouse dating from 1822 and De Hoop, a corn mill dating from 1801. You can also visit the Jan Blanken Dry Dock, built between 1798 and 1822.
