Description
Cycling on Voorne-Putten offers you the best of both worlds. You will find plenty of natural beauty there, such as in Voornes Duin. And you pass through places worth seeing, such as Brielle and Hellevoetsluis.
Voornes Dune
Then you cross the Haringvlietdam to Voorne-Putten. You immediately drive through Voornes Duinen: one of the most species-rich dune areas in Western Europe. In addition to beautiful dunes, you will find flower-rich grasslands, moist valleys and dune forests here. And a wonderful silence! You can get off at Paviljoen de Duinrand and grab a nice terrace.
Drydock
After cycling along the leafy banks of the Brielse Meer, you pass through Brielle. Dismount for a moment to enjoy the historic atmosphere before driving into the polders with their vast grasslands. In the old harbor of Hellevoetsluis you can see the eighteen-meter high lighthouse from 1822 and De Hoop, a flour mill from 1801. You can also visit the Jan Blanken Dry Dock, which was built between 1798 and 1822.
