Walking at Oud-Vossemeer, village of Roosevelt

Oud-Vossemeer is a charming town on Tholen, ideal to explore on foot. In the area it is nice to walk through a varied environment. Put on your walking shoes for a surprising walking day.

The hunter
You set off from Huys van Roosevelt. Soon you walk into the countryside. Enjoy the tranquility while you walk along the meadows, fields and orchards. Between the trees you can see De Jager: a white flour mill from 1850. From the path you look out over the rippling water of the Hikse Kreek and the reed beds along the banks. At junction 88 you pass Gemaal Drie Groote Polders, a white steam pumping station from 1900.

Scheldt-Rhine Canal
You cross the Zeedijk: at the top you have a nice view. It is nice to walk in the lee along the leafy banks of the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. You regularly see seagoing ships sailing here on their way to the next port. You walk back through the polders to Oud-Vossemeer. You can still admire the fifteenth-century Johannes de Doperkerk on the Ring. Grab a terrace at the Huys van Roosevelt and look out at the Craft House with its small tower from 1771.
