Blow out the cobwebs on Tholen

You start at the edge of De Pluimpot. This small nature reserve is the last remnant of the channel that cut the island of Tholen in two until 1556. After the flood disaster, this channel was declared unsafe and closed in 1957. Via Scherpenisse and Sint Maartensdijk you make a beautiful round over the island of Tholen. At the Scheldt-Rhine Canal you pass Rammegors, a salt marsh and mudflat reserve. After a cup of coffee at't Wagenhuis you cycle to the old city center of Tholen. Here you still experience the historical atmosphere of a fortified town. The ramparts and fortifications, for example, are still largely intact. You will also see beautiful monumental buildings. Your cycle route ends in the Scherpenissepolder. You have a beautiful view over the water of the Oosterschelde National Park.
