Train walking from Almelo De Riet to Borne

This Blauwnet walk starts at Almelo de Riet train station and ends at Borne train station. Discover Twente's natural beauty and its beautiful heathlands and forests on this 16-kilometer walk.

Relaxation in the open air
From Almelo de Riet station, located in the east of Almelo, you quickly leave the city for Bornerbroek. From here, you'll walk through the Groene Poort, the beautiful countryside between Almelo and Borne. This route is definitely for hikers. It's the perfect place for relaxation, peace, and quiet. Enjoying outdoor activities—nothing is healthier than that!

Further on the road

From Bornerbroek, you can walk to Zenderen and Hertme. You'll enter Borne from the north. Along the Bornsebeek stream and the Weideplas lake, you'll reach Grand Café De Steeg, near the end of this walk. De Steeg is located in the charming center of Borne. Enjoy a well-deserved break here after this lovely walk. The terrace is covered, so even if it rains, it's a great place to relax.

End point: Borne
Borne is an ideal starting and ending point for both hikers and cyclists. Borne is located in the heart of Twente. From here, you'll pass through the most beautiful spots in the countryside between Almelo and Borne. After your hike, you can easily take the Blauwnet train back home. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
