Train walk Nijverdal-Wierden: through the Reggedal

This walking route takes you from Nijverdal train station to Wierden train station. Nijverdal is located at the foot of the Sallandse Heuvelrug. For those seeking peace and quiet, this is a perfect area for walking. During this walk, you will largely follow the course of the Regge river.

The Reggedal

The walk starts from Nijverdal station. Many goods used to be transported via the Regge river. From the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, zompen, boats with a flat bottom that could even sail in very shallow water, sailed here. Just above Rijssen you turn north, towards the final destination of this route: Wierden station.

By train to Wierden
Wierden station is located on the railway line between Zwolle and Almelo, which you can easily reach with a Blauwnet sprinter. After the walk you can visit the Holten Canadian War Cemetery, which is about 13 kilometers from the station. Afterwards you can take a train back home and enjoy a beautiful day.
