Train walking: castle route Heino-Raalte

This blue network walk takes you from Heino station to Raalte station. During this route you will pass various estates and you can enjoy the beautiful nature and the relaxed atmosphere. An impressive combination of nature and culture through Salland.

Cultural Route
The walking route starts at Heino station. The first stop is Kasteel het Nijenhuis, one of the best preserved manors in Overijssel. Its history goes back to the late Middle Ages. The castle was inhabited by different noble families. It has been fully accessible to the public since 2004. Part of an extensive art collection can be admired in the castle and there are about 80 sculptures in the sculpture garden. Stroll through the beautiful ornamental garden and enjoy the most beautiful images in the meantime.

Time for coffee
After you have visited Kasteel het Nijenhuis, you walk a few kilometers south through the beautiful nature in the countryside. You walk through Velnerbroek towards Raalte. The end of this route is approaching, and then it's time for coffee at De Zwaan. Got hungry? Then enjoy a nice lunch or dinner. If you want to enjoy the tranquility of Salland for longer, you can also spend the night here. The end point of this route is Raalte station.

The center of Heino
On the way there or on the way back to the train, it is nice to walk past the Leugenpompe (the village pump) in the center of Heino. According to the legend, it only gives water to people with a clear conscience...
