Train walking: estate route Zwolle-Heino

This walk starts at Zwolle train station. If you don't live in this area, it is definitely worth the trip to come and explore this area. The end point of this walk is Heino train station.

From Zwolle to Wijhe
Zwolle used to be favourably situated on an existing trade route and the city was able to profit from this. You can still see traces of this rich history in Zwolle: decorated facades, the defensive wall, the Sassenpoort, the Peperbus and the star-shaped city moat. This blue net walk starts in the Hanseatic city of Zwolle at the train station. Via the Engelse Werk you walk south along the Schellerdijk out of the city. Along the Schellerwade you walk through Oldeneel, Schelle, Harculo and Herxen to Wijhe.

Estates and historical buildings
During the walk you will pass Landhuis de Colckhof. The country house itself is not accessible, but walking on the paths of the estate is allowed. Experience the romance of the English gardens. Almost 60 species of birds breed on the Colckhof, so birdwatchers can indulge themselves. You will also pass Kasteel't Rozendael in Raalte and Het Nijenhuis. This is a beautifully preserved manor house with a beautiful art collection, regularly changing exhibitions and a beautiful sculpture garden. After having seen these beautiful sights, you will walk to the end point of this route: Heino train station.
