Description
The Loonse & Drunense Duinen National Park is an ideal walking area. This tour introduces you to the many faces of this varied nature reserve.
Brabant Sahara
From De Rustende Jager you can walk straight into the woods of the Loonse & Drunense Duinen. Enjoy the fragrant conifers while you switch back for a moment. You will soon walk through the drifting dunes that give this area its nickname The Brabantse Sahara. A special environment that you will only find in few places in the Netherlands. In addition to forests and drifting dunes, you will also find heathland plots here, what a variety!
Picturesque Giersbergen
On the north side of this national park you no longer walk through dry, but through moist forests. You will see more deciduous trees here. It is nice and fresh in the shade of this foliage roof, which offers welcome relief, especially on hot days. Further on, the landscape occasionally opens up, offering a view of small-scale meadows and fields. You pass through Giersbergen, a picturesque old hamlet. Back at De Rustende Jager it is time for a terrace.
