Description
Put on your walking shoes and get to know Southeast Drenthe on foot. This route takes you through the surroundings of the Blauwnet train line between Coevorden and Emmen. While walking you can relax in the peaceful Drenthe landscape.
On to New Amsterdam
You start this walk in the historic fortified town of Coevorden. From Coevorden train station you walk through the cozy streets of the oldest city in Drenthe. Fancy a cup of coffee or a nice breakfast before you really hit the road? Then you can go to H Design Hotels Kasteel Coevorden in a beautiful castle in Coevorden. Then you set course for New Amsterdam. While walking you can enjoy wide views over the vast agricultural areas and fields. After walking almost 20 kilometers you can have a bite to eat at Eetcafe Foodmaster De Viersprong in New Amsterdam and a little further on you can take a look at the Van Gogh House. The painter Vincent van Gogh lived in this house for two months.
The last bit
From Nieuw-Amsterdam you walk further to the end point in the south of Emmen. You will find the Emmen-Zuid train station here, where you can take the train home. Of course you can also choose to explore Emmen further.

Emmen is known as the'open, green city\\\' and that is of course not the case for nothing. This city was built with enough space for nature. Take a look around Emmen and discover it for yourself. You will also find all kinds of historic buildings and Saxon farms to admire here.
