Walking route Meers

This route takes you through the surroundings of the Limburgse Meers. You walk along the Maas and past Kasteel Stein.

Stein Castle
In between you have a beautiful view of the area from the bridge. Further on you will pass the water mill that belongs to Kasteel Stein. The moated castle includes the ruins of a marlstone donjon from 1200. You walk through a small wooded area between the canal and the Maas, then walk along the dike along Meers and the Maas.

Mesh
At Cycling and walking terrace De Witte Börstel you can take a pit stop. Enjoy a coffee with something delicious at your leisure, before continuing to walk to the Tree Circle of Meers. This tree monument consists of fifteen fossil forest giants that have lain under the Maas water for centuries. You can get a breath of fresh air in the fields while walking on the many unpaved paths. You have a beautiful view over the Maas to the hills on the horizon.
