Admire castles between Lochem and Goor

During this route you walk from Lochem train station to Goor train station. A walk of more than 20 kilometers through the beautiful surroundings of Gelderland and Overijssel. Along the way you will pass several historical sights, such as castles.

Walking along the water
The starting point of this route is Lochem station, which is located in the north of the village. You walk about 7 kilometers along the Twente Canal, on your way to Diepenheim. At Café - Restaurant De Viersprong you can enjoy delicious coffee with apple pie, lunch or dinner. From here you continue to Diepenheim.

Highlights: historic castles
During this route you don't have to worry about not encountering things. Along the way you walk past no less than five sights that are all worth a visit. The first is Havezate Westerflier, an old mansion from 1729. The surrounding estate consists of an alternation of woods, meadows and arable land. Then you will pass Kasteel Huis te Diepenheim, which was built in 1648. The estate is freely accessible to walkers. After walking past Pekkedam, you arrive at Nijenhuis Castle. The character of this Nijenhuis estate is park-like with romantic walking paths and picturesque vistas. The last stop of the sights is Kasteel Weldam, an ancient estate in the wooded area of Twente. Via Markelo you walk on to Goor.

End point: Goor
The walk ends at Goor train station. From here you can easily catch the train home and reminisce about the wonderful walk you did. Or you choose to continue walking, because this route is part of the Zutphen-Oldenzaal route.
