Train walking Zutphen-Lochem via Huis De Voorst

This walk takes you from Zutphen station to Lochem station and a large part of this route runs along the water. Here you can really relax.

Tower city Zutphen
Zutphen is also called the Tower City because of its large, historic buildings. There is a lot to discover here: various museums, courtyards and other places of interest. Zutphen is also an ideal starting point for a walking route. This is also the case with this walk of more than 21 kilometers from Zutphen train station to Lochem train station. From the station you depart in an easterly direction and you walk for a while along the river Berkel, which flows into the IJssel.

Versailles of the Achterhoek
After about five kilometers of walking you will pass the first point of interest, namely Huis de Voorst. Huis de Voorst was built around 1700 by order of Arnold Joost van Keppel, who had made a fortune at the court of Stadtholder William III. Because of its resemblance to the palace of Willem III, De Voorst was nicknamed'Het Kleine Loo\\\' and the lush gardens earned it the honorary title'Versailles van de Achterhoek\\\'. After you have visited Huis de Voorst, you continue the route in an easterly direction. You cross the Diversion Canal and then you actually follow it all the way to the Daughternseweg, meandering through the beautiful outdoor environment between Zutphen and Lochem. Then you walk along the water of the Twente Canal. You will spend a large part of this walk along the water. You enter Lochem via the north.

Lochem station is a perfect starting point to go by train from your home to surprise yourself with a beautiful day in Lochem and the surrounding area.
