Description
This cycle route is part of the Zutphen-Oldenzaal route. From Goor train station you cycle 21 kilometers to Delden station. Along the way you cycle through the green nature of Overijssel and you pass Castle Twickel.
Cycling along the water
The starting point of this cycling tour is Goor train station . Since the establishment of the textile industry in the 19th century, Goor has grown considerably and the place has been supplemented with new residents from Drenthe and other parts of the Netherlands. You leave the village via the north of Goor and cycle towards Zeldam, where you cycle along the water for a few kilometers. After crossing the Zijkanaal to Almelo, you continue your course east to Deldenbroek.
Twickel Castle
After you have cycled through the green nature of Overijssel for a while, you will pass Kasteel Twickel. The castle is known for its gardens and park. It covers more than 4000 hectares, making it the largest private estate in the Netherlands. Twickel is also known as the'Twents Hof van Eden\\\' - and rightly so. The open gardens are imposing and invite you to dream away. Step off and enjoy the beautiful castle gardens. You then cycle on to the final destination of this route: Delden train station .
Special estate
Delden is completely surrounded by the Landgoed Twickel with Castle Twickel as the central center. However, you can walk or cycle on the estate about 150 farms, the Noordmolen, museum farm de Wendezoele and other places of interest.
