Description
Cycling along the water
The starting point of this cycle tour is Goor train station . Since the establishment of the textile industry in the 19th century, Goor has grown considerably and the town has been supplemented with new residents from Drenthe and other parts of the Netherlands. Via the north of Goor you leave the village and cycle towards Zeldam, where you cycle along the water for a few kilometers. After crossing the Zijkanaal to Almelo, you continue your course towards the east, to Deldenbroek.
Twickel Castle
After cycling through the green nature of Overijssel for a while, you will pass Twickel Castle. The castle is known for its gardens and park. It covers more than 4000 hectares and is therefore the largest private estate in the Netherlands. Twickel is also known as the'Twente Hof van Eden\\\' - and rightly so. The open gardens are impressive and invite you to dream away in them. Get off and enjoy the beautiful castle gardens. After this, you cycle on to the final destination of this route: Delden train station .
Special estate
Delden is completely surrounded by the Twickel Estate with Twickel Castle as its central focal point. However, on the estate you can visit about 150 farms, the Noordmolen, the Wendezoele museum farm and other sights on foot or by bike.
