Almelo is the ideal base for a cycling trip. This cycle route starts at Almelo de Riet train station . From here you cycle south towards all the greenery that the Almelo area has to offer. Look around you and enjoy nature while the wind blows through your hair. Via Tusveld you cycle towards Zenderen, a village that was already mentioned in the tenth century. You enter the village via the north side of Borne. Then you continue to Borne train station. Just before arrival you can drink a cup of coffee at Grand Café de Steeg, which is located in the center of Borne.

Until the end of the 18th century, Borne was a rural municipality. The first textile factory was built in 1828 and grew into a large company employing many people from the region.
