Description
In the Alblasserwaard you can enjoy a route through a vast polder landscape that is dotted with beautiful old villages. Get on your bike and experience the charm of this region.
Old mills
There is no shortage of historic mills in this region. For example, you pass the Vriendschap, a former flour mill from 1890. Further along the Alblas is the Kooijwijkse Molen, a polder mill from 1866.
Nieuwpoort Fortress
In the middle of the polders you can get a breath of fresh air while driving along the water and the vast grasslands. Just before Streefkerk you will see some old mills in the fields. You can travel for miles along the dike along the Lek through an authentic Dutch landscape. You pass De Liefde, a flour mill from 1893. Further on you pass through Nieuwpoort, a fortified town where you can spot many national monuments.
