Description
In the Alblasserwaard you can enjoy a route through a wide polder landscape that is dotted with beautiful old villages. Get on your bike and experience the charm of this region.
Old mills
There is no shortage of historical mills in this region. For example, you pass the Vriendschap, a former corn mill from 1890. Further along the Alblas is the Kooijwijkse Molen, a polder mill from 1866.
Fortress Nieuwpoort
In the middle of the polders you can enjoy a breath of fresh air, while you drive along the water and the vast grasslands. Just before Streefkerk you will see some old mills in the fields again. On the dike along the Lek it is nice to make kilometers through an authentic Dutch landscape. You pass the Liefde, a corn mill from 1893. Further on you come through Nieuwpoort, a fortified town where you can spot many national monuments.
