Description
Leeuwarden is easy to discover by bicycle. In this charming town you will find plenty of beautiful old buildings. In the countryside you can enjoy the vastness and the old villages.
Poptasslot
The route starts at the parking lot in Adlân-Oost. From here you can drive straight into the wide polders. You pass through Boksum and Deinum, two beautiful old terp villages that once lay on the Middelzee: a former estuary that ran through Friesland until the Middle Ages. In Marssum you pass the Heringastate, a fifteenth-century stins that is now a museum: a nice stop!
Leeuwarder forest
After you have cycled through the polders along a few canals, you will pass through the Leeuwarderbos: a beautiful young nature reserve that has been planted to compensate for CO2 emissions. You then drive through the city center of Leeuwarden. Thanks to the many well-preserved monumental buildings, you will find a unique historical atmosphere here. To enjoy!
