The benefits of Groningen's vastness

In the vicinity of Zoutkamp it is beautiful to walk along the Zoutkamperril. In Zoutkamp and Vierhuizen you can experience Groningen's rich cultural history.

Lauwerszee
After a restful night's sleep at Camping de Rousant, you will probably feel like going for a long walk. Put on your walking shoes and cross two monumental lock complexes in a short time. The first dates from 1877, the second from 1859. Then you walk a few kilometers along the banks of the Zoutkamperril. This was once a natural extension of the Reitdiep on the Lauwerszee, now it is a canal. Get a breath of fresh air and clear your head in the vast countryside of Groningen.

Panzer
In the village of Vierhuizen you will pass the Onderneming, a flour mill from 1858. Walk a short distance to view the beautiful medieval church. Then you walk through the Panserpolder via the old church path. On the right at the end of this unpaved path is the Panser farm, just like the polder, it is named after the borg that stood here until about the eighteenth century. Via Zoutkamp you walk back to Camping de Rousant.
