Tour of the Roovertsche Heide

You walk through the Brabant countryside on car-free roads. You quickly get into your rhythm here, while you walk along meadows and fields. Every now and then you pass a characteristic old farm. It is wonderfully quiet here. The Roovertsche Heide is nicknamed the 'Landgoed van de Pooren' (Estate of the Poor). A charity foundation once bought this area as a job creation project, but this plan failed. The path initially winds between the fragrant conifers. After a while you walk along a straight avenue, with views over the fields on the right. You walk along the former route of the steam tram line to Poppel to Esbeek. Here you pass the Heilige Adrianuskerk (Saint Adrian Church) and the adjacent rectory, two national monuments.
