Lustwaranderoute West

Around 1900, new villas were built along the southern flank of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The long strip of villages between Leersum and Zeist changed into the "Stichtse Lustwarande" with stately villas and beautiful country houses. Even today, the wooded area is an attractive residential area for commuters and seniors. And those who do not live there come here for recreation. Numerous hiking, riding and cycling trails have been constructed in the woods. This route takes you through the vast forests of Boswachterij Austerlitz, along the Leersumse Veld, the transition area from Heuvelrug to Gelderse Vallei, and the Kromme Rijn area.
