Enjoy from the dikes in Gelderland

In Gelderland it is wonderful to cycle over the many winding dikes. You drive along Maas and Waal. A route full of historical sights, such as churches and castles.

Solitary church tower
Recreational farm Maas en Waal is a nice place to stay in the polders between Maas and Waal. From here you can drive straight into the vast countryside with its vast meadows. You drive through Puiflijk, where you will see, among other things, the detached fifteenth-century church tower. The church was demolished in 1816. It is wonderful to travel for miles along the Waalbandijk along the floodplains and the river. Get some fresh air while enjoying the beautiful landscape.

Castles
Just before junction 24 you pass the Drie Dijken Point: a unique place in this river country where the Waaldijk, Maasdijk and Heerewaardense Afsluitdijk meet. Cycling along the Maas you will see fruit orchards, mills and nineteenth-century dike warehouses. In Maasbommel you will see a picturesque setting of old farms and the Reformed Church from 1842. Around the castles in Batenburg and Hernen you will experience the atmosphere of times gone by. What a beautiful region!
