Flowers and sights in the Westland

With this route you will discover the Glass City, as the Westland is sometimes called. You drive through beautiful polder landscapes, old church villages and the Staelduinse Bos.

Staelduinse Bos
Just behind the dunes you get on your bike. You will soon drive through the Staelduinse Bos. This special nature reserve is located on a remnant of former estuary dunes and was established as an estate in the nineteenth century. You will see beautiful old deciduous trees and straight avenues. In the Westland you will find plenty of greenhouses, but also meadows and straight waterways: silent witnesses of the hard work that has been done here to reclaim the area.

Madestein
You cycle through Naaldwijk, Honselersdijk and Kwintsheul, among others: towns where you can spot plenty of sights, such as churches, mills and old farms. You then pass through Madestein, a nature and recreation area that was created in 1969 in 2 polders. Here you will find a varied landscape of ponds, reed collars, forest and lawns. Just past the picturesque Monster you pass Huyskweker De Zonnebloem. Here you can visit the show garden, which is highly recommended!
