Nunspeet, Elburg
In the past, Nunspeet was not really an ideal place to live: on the north side the village was threatened by the Zuiderzee and on the south side by advancing drifting sand. Around 1900 people started to fight against the latter by planting trees.
The Veluwerandveer sails from May to the end of September, departure from Biddinghuizen on the hour and departure from Nunspeet on the half hour.

Locomotive houses also date from that period: the low houses with a striking chimney were indeed reminiscent of a locomotive. In Nunspeet there is only one left on the Wagenweg. Another copy is in the Open Air Museum in Arnhem. Elburg was also located on the Zuiderzee, until Willem van Gulik, the Duke of Guelders, decided in 1392 to move the town a bit inland.
