Around Alkmaar you will find plenty of variety. You cycle through dunes and forests, through vast polders and special villages, such as Schoorl and Bergen.
To put away
From Egmond aan den Hoef you first cycle through a wide polder landscape of meadows and ditches. A little later you cycle a bit through the Bergerbos with its beautiful old deciduous trees and lanes. In the artists' village of Bergen you see some stately old buildings. In Schoorl you can take a look at the high dune top that lies in the village, before you cycle along the dunes to Restaurant De Bokkesprong at Hans and Stacey for a refreshing stopover.
Schoorl Dunes
In the North Holland polders you can enjoy the characteristic landscape. Here you see monumental polder mills, such as the Groetermolen and the Molen Zijpe LQ. In Burgervlotbrug you see one of the five remaining floating bridges in the Netherlands. Then you drive into the Pettemerduinen: a relatively unknown, therefore wonderfully quiet nature reserve. Further on you drive a bit along the Hondsbossche Zeewering. A nice breath of fresh air at sea! Through the beautiful Schoorlse Duinen you drive back to the starting point.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
