Description
In the Hoeksche Waard you can relax for another day. You cycle over winding dikes through a vast landscape, and you also pass through picturesque towns.
Old Maas
From 's-Gravendeel you drive into the Hoeksche Waard. Here you cycle through an old cultural landscape of grasslands and ditches. You regularly pass a characteristic monumental farm. You will also pass De Lelie, a flour mill from 1836. Further on you will drive through the picturesque harbor of Puttershoek. Just before junction 19 you drive through the forest of the Polder Buitenzomerlanden, a nature reserve on the Oude Maas.
Pit stop
Get off in Heinenoord at't Land van Wale Restaurant for a cozy and refreshing pit stop. Then you can take a good look at the village church from 1510. According to the villagers, the tower would be more leaning than that of Pisa. In the polders you can get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the peace and space. In villages such as Westmaas and Cillaarshoek you will see old farms and characteristic churches. What a beautiful region!
