From Heinenoord through the Hoeksche Waard

De Hoeksche Waard is an island where you will still find an old cultural landscape. On the other side of the Oude Maas you drive through some special nature reserves.

Old Maas
At't Land van Wale Restaurant you can first have something to eat and drink, before taking a look at the beautiful village church from 1510. Then you get on your bike and ride a bit through the picturesque Heinenoord. You cross the Oude Maas, after which you drive through the Jan Gerritsepolder. Here is the Gaatkensbult, a nice lookout hill. The adjacent Carnisse Grienden and Rhoonse Grienden are small-scale nature reserves with freshwater tides, a rarity.

Small Profit
You can sail back to the Hoeksche Waard by boat. Here you drive on car-free roads through a vast landscape of grasslands and ditches along which willows and reed collars grow. How peaceful it is here! You will pass through some picturesque villages with old churches and mills, such as Westmaas and Mijnsheerenland, which are located on the Binnenbedijkte Maas. After driving through Oud-Beijerland, you will finally pass through the Klein Profijt nature reserve.
