Description
On the Hoeksche Waard you can enjoy an old cultural landscape. You will pass plenty of sights in the beautiful old villages.
Outdoor summer countries
The route starts in Nieuw-Beijerland. A little later you will drive through the vast polders for which the Hoeksche Waard is known. You can enjoy cycling on the winding dikes while enjoying the peace and quiet and the views over the vast grasslands. Further on you drive through the forest of the Polder Buitenzomerlanden, a nature reserve on the Oude Maas.
Beautiful Maasdam
In Puttershoek you drive through the picturesque harbor area with its old buildings. You drive along the Boezemvliet to Maasdam, a beautiful village on the Binnenbedijkte Maas: a dammed arm of the Maas. You pass De Hoop, a thatched corn mill from 1822. In Westmaas you pass the beautiful village church from 1650. Further on is the Windlust: a white corn mill from 1853. In the polders you can still see some monumental old farms. How beautiful and peaceful it is to cycle here!
