Description
You can take a bike ride through the Hoeksche Waard around Maasdam. You also cross the street to enjoy the beautiful nature on the Island of Dordrecht.
Hoeksche Waard
You cycle through Mijnsheerenland and Westmaas, two picturesque villages on the Binnenbedijkte Maas. In the polders of the Hoeksche Waard it is wonderfully quiet to make kilometers. In this open area you drive on car-free and meandering dikes along creeks and vast meadows. On the horizon the clouds float by in the characteristically high Dutch skies.
Old mills
On the Island of Dordrecht you cycle through the Louisa & Cannemanspolder, a park forest where you walk between an orchard and wild grasslands. In the adjacent De Elzen you drive through a relatively young and moist forest. How quiet it is here! Back in the Hoeksche Waard you drive past De Lelie, a corn mill from 1836. Just past the beautiful Maasdam you pass the Oostmolen from 1731, it drained the Moerkerken polder.
