Description

It is beautifully situated on the edge of the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen, a protected area that was established in 1853 as the first water extraction area in the Netherlands. You walk through a landscape of forest, open dunes and waterways. An environment that is regularly mentioned by nature lovers as one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands! Please note: you must buy a day ticket to be able to walk in the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen. Further on you cross the grasslands and walk through three contiguous estates: Woestduin, Vinkenduin and Leyduin. These estates were once used by prominent Amsterdam families as a summer residence. The famous poet Jacob van Lennep, van Leyduin, had the first water pipes laid from the dunes to Amsterdam.
