In the Achterhoek it is once again quiet cycling. Especially if there are hardly any villages on your route. That's another downshift.
Zwiepse Molen On car-free roads you drive through a scenic landscape of fields, meadows, streams and hedgerows. In Zwiep you will pass the Zwiepse Molen, a thatched corn mill from 1851. It was originally located on the Zwiepse Berg near Barchem, but was moved several times due to poor wind conditions. It has been at its current location since 1880.
Picturesque Stokkum Along the way you regularly see an old Saxon farm. Like in Stokkum, a hamlet where you can still find the atmosphere of times gone by. Further on you will pass Kasteel Huis in Diepenheim, the oldest castle in the region. It was built in 1648 by Berent Bentinck. His family coat of arms can be admired on the beautiful castle gate. Towards the end of your route you will pass through the small forest along the Hambroekplas recreational area.
