Description

In the Achterhoek it is quiet cycling. Especially when there are hardly any villages on your route. That is really downshifting.

Zwiepse Molen On car-free roads you drive through a coulisse landscape of fields, meadows, streams and hedgerows. In Zwiep you pass the Zwiepse Molen, a thatched corn mill from 1851. Originally it stood on the Zwiepse Berg near Barchem, but due to the poor wind catch it was moved several times. It has been at its current location since 1880.

Picturesque Stokkum Along the way you will regularly see an old Saxon farm. Like in Stokkum, a hamlet where you can still find the atmosphere of times gone by. Further on you will pass Kasteel Huis te Diepenheim, the oldest castle in the region. It was built in 1648 by Berent Bentinck. His family crest can be admired on the beautiful castle gate. Towards the end of your route you will pass through the small forest along the recreation area de Hambroekplas.
