Cycling along the Oudegaasterbruggen with a fantastic view. Sailors, fishermen and the reflection of the water. You cycle past a nature reserve in Fryske Gea. In early summer you can see geese and young chicks there. Via Nijhuizum you cycle to Workum and further via the dried-up lakes (around 1880) Workumermeer and Parregaastermeer. Stop in the landscape at the island of Breewar, the elevation that you sometimes don't even notice if you don't know it. Close your eyes, allow the past to enter and imagine how the people here lived from eel fishing and the struggle against the water. In the distance you see Parrega and you cycle meandering through the old country to Greonterp. The village with the bell tower and the earlier'writing place\\\' of Gerard van't Reve. It's quiet there, it's so beautiful there. Cycle further through Blauwhuis to the'Nieuwe land\\\'; Nijland. On to Bolsward, the city of Gysbert Japicx, the founder of the Frisian written language.
