This route runs through old & new Alphen : Namely the new residential area Ligt II where plenty of beautiful houses are still being built, and through one of the oldest inhabited areas of Alphen, namely the Landgoed de Hoevens:

This route runs through old & new Alphen : Namely the new residential area Ligt II where plenty of beautiful houses are still being built, and through one of the oldest inhabited areas of Alphen, namely the Landgoed de Hoevens:
Landgoed de Hoevens has a long history. A few years ago, remains of burial mounds were discovered, proof that people already lived here in the Bronze Age. In the centuries that followed, possession of the land with eleven farms on it passed via Sint Willibrordus to the Abbey of Tongerlo and the Abbey of Echternach.
In 1919, the Blomjous brothers, textile manufacturers from Tilburg, bought the land and buildings at an auction from a Breda orphanage. From then on there was only talk of an estate and it was given the name'De Hoevens\\\'; a reference to the many hooves that are here.
