Description
Just outside Kampen you cycle through a beautiful polder landscape. You can get a breath of fresh air here while enjoying the peace and quiet.
IJssel
The route starts at B&B"\\\'t Geheim van de Molenaer\\\", a unique accommodation address with a view of the IJssel. From here you can drive straight through the historic heart of Kampen. On the IJsselkade you see one beautiful building after another. Look back from the other side of the river and you will have a beautiful view of the Bovenkerk, a cruciform basilica whose construction began in the twelfth century.
Kampereiland
Kampereiland is located in the mouth of the IJssel. Typical of this region is that the old farms are on mounds, because the island regularly flooded before the closure of the Zuiderzee in 1932. After Genemuiden you drive through the medieval Polder Mastenbroek, one of the oldest reclaimed lands in the Netherlands. The landscape consists of elongated plots of grassland separated by narrow ditches. What peace you experience here!
