Walking through forest and heathland near Mierlo

South of Brabant's Mierlo you will make a varied walk through forest and heath. Put on your sturdy shoes and enjoy the Strabrechtse Heide and Molenheide.

Kempen Heath Sheep
At De Strabrechtse Hoeve you can first have a drink and a bite to eat, before you walk into the Strabrechtse Heide. You first walk through the woods here, before you arrive at the vast heathland to which this nature reserve owes its fame. What beautiful views you have here! The inhabited world seems very far away, especially when you see the shepherd walking with his flock of Kempen Heide sheep.

Mill Heath
You pass a few fens before you enter Molenheide. It is wonderfully quiet walking here, the winding paths and lanes lead you through forest and some heath remnants. Just before the Second World War, the heath was reclaimed as a job creation project. Conifers were planted for the mining industry in South Limburg, so that you now walk between Scots pine, Corsican pine and spruce. At De Strabrechtse Hoeve you can grab a cozy terrace afterwards.
