Lost Wings Route Klazienaveen-Zwartemeer

The Lost Wings Route is a cycling route along all the crash locations in the municipality of Emmen where a plane crashed during the war.

The locations have a yellow Lost Wings information board.

The current Lost Wings Route is divided into 2 parts:
Schoonebeek-Weiteveen
Klazienaveen-Zwartemeer

You start the route at the General Cemetery of Nieuw Dordrecht. Here you will find the war graves and memorial stones of deceased Allied pilots and crew members.

In Klazienaveen you will pass the Cabot factory (formerly Norit and popularly Purit). Opposite the factory there is a monument that commemorates the Allied bombing of the factory.

When you turn the corner at café de Nagdwacht in Zwartemeer, you can stop at the café. During the mobilization, a group of border soldiers was stationed. The bridge has already disappeared and been replaced by a dam. Opposite the café, this bridge was then defended with a casemate.
